The Powerpuff Girls live-action series Powerpuff has revealed the show’s logo in a photo from the first day on set posted by director Maggie Kiley.

Powerpuff, the CW’s live-action adaption of The Powerpuff Girls, has revealed the show logo on day one of filming. Based on Cartoon Network’s beloved series by Craig McCracken, the reincarnation sees superhero trifecta Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as disillusioned twentysomethings who wish they hadn’t missed out on a normal childhood due to crime-fighting. The CW first announced the series as being in development in August of 2020.

The pilot gained more attention in March upon revealing its three leads: Dove Cameron (Descendants franchise) as Bubbles, Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Blossom, and Yanna Perrault (Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill) as Buttercup. The CW later announced that Donald Faison would play the girl’s father figure, Professor Utonium, and Nicholas Podany would tackle Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr. Powerpuff‘s powerhouse production team is led by writer-producers Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body), Heather Regnier (Sleepy Hollow), and CW staple, Greg Berlanti.

Berlanti Production’s veteran director Maggie Kiley is helming the Powerpuff pilot. Kiley took to Instagram to tease fans with a photo from «day 1» on set. The filmmaker shared a snap of her director’s chair, which was adorned with what seems to be the series new logo. Embossed in the same retro block letters as the original title and using faint versions of the girl’s signature colors, the Powerpuff design pays homage to the classic cartoon.

Powerpuff appears to be honoring its predecessor in as many ways possible. While it’s set on being a darker tale than meets the age of many fans who watched as kids, the pilot conjures everything that made the cartoon iconic. Kiley shared another way to her Instagram Story, reposting a photo from assistant director Nicole Burke. The image showed a Blossom patch attached to camera A.

Fans of the Berlanti-verse are no doubt thrilled to see Kiley directing the inaugural episode of Powerpuff. The creative has a proven track record of producing exceptional entertainment for the production banner, directing on shows like Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Katy Keene. In 2019, Kiley signed a major exclusive deal with Warner Bros TV to direct and produce for the studio and develop new content. She’s clearly the perfect powerhouse to bring sugar, spice, and everything nice to Powerpuff.
